Alyssa Kate the Alley Cat

It's our little boo's first Halloween & we couldn't be more excited!  It's been Halloween around here since October 1st hit!  Baby girl's been rocking the Halloween pjs, bibs, & outfits as often as mommy could get them rotated through the wash.  I've been trying to snap pics in each outfit, & we're still working on capturing all of them, but here are a few to get you in the Halloween spirit!

First is an adorable outfit that our neighbor loaned us.  Their little girl wore it for her first Halloween also & I didn't stop saying "Awe" the whole time that I snapped away.

She also loaned us the most adorable footed pjs.

This is what I wake up to...are you not so jealous?

For Halloween I wasn't sure if we should even do the costume thing since most kiddos seem to hate the experience & she's not exactly going to be going door to door asking for candy.  But my practicality got trumped when I started getting emails on deals for the most ridiculously cute baby costumes.  My practical side took a small victory in that I decided it would be oh so adorable to play on Alyssa Kate = Alley Cat and just purchase a black onesie & a "turn your baby into a cat kit" (for only $5!). So boom, just a few bucks for a totally comfy & totally adorable first Halloween costume!  (Insert applause here)

Alyssa didn't exactly love my photo shoot attempt yesterday.  She was so overwhelmed by being outside & the dogs running around that the smiles were replaced with confused looks.  But here are some shots of our cute little alley cat!

Annie & Ally sittin' in a tree!  K-I-S-S-I-N-G!

On the prowl for that grass!

Meow!

Is it obvious who she loves more??

He may be a bit over the moon for her too ;)

She really loved when I broke out this bad boy, but I had to at least get a couple shots!

"Naughty alley cat!"
(It's a song we sing to her daily)

Hanging in the backyard with my big sisters, no bigs

Hey Bay Bay, wanna play with my tale?
I also took Alyssa to the Houston Zoo Boo!  Okay so the exclamation point was more from me than her, since she pretty much had no clue what was going on & she fell asleep on me in her sling, but it was fun!  We missed Daddy because he was at work, busy saving lives, so we will definitely be going back since I got almost no pictures of us together.
Here is one I took with my lousy camera phone.  This was probably the moment she had major poops all up her back requiring a super fun trip to the bathroom with some awesome maneuvering by mommy to change her.

Well i'm off to enjoy the last few minutes of her nap then it's off to a pumpkin patch for some more picture taking & fall fun!

Lucky Number Seven

Yesterday our baby girl turned 7 months old.  She celebrated by pulling up for the first time while we were out at a movie.  We almost never leave little boo to get out and about just the two of us & when we finally do she is busy conquering a gross motor skill in our absence.  To that I say to her, "rude".  I mean I only brought her into this world, & that was such a piece of cake, so nope, I don't mind missing out on her firsts.  ((Sigh))

Luckily my mother in law has got some quick recordin' skills.

I'm not gonna lie, watching that video sparks an internal conflict.  My heart is screaming, "I'm never leaving your side again baby boo!", while my mind is looking down at me snarkily remarking for me to "lock it up".  Never the less, I am so thankful to have it on video.  Chase & I haven't stopped talking about how we can't believe how fast this is all happening.  We are having to be more conscious about what is around her when we step away from her & today we moved her crib down.  She looks like such a big girl!

Mommy, Wow! I'm a big kid now!
Can you believe your eyes people??  I mean doesn't it seem like this was just yesterday...?

I'm not going to bore you with more talk about how time flies by us so fast, but I am going to point out & flaunt that I am posting her 7 month post only 1 day after her 7 month birthday!  I mean get excited people.  I have successfully been bringing you posts & rocking your boring afternoons, mornings, evenings, you name it, for the last month.  You're welcome ;)
Keeping in good documenting fashion I have also taken her 7 month shots along with a boat load of Halloween pics that I will be bringing to you in another post.  Gotta leave ya wanting more peeps.  So here is the best of the 7 month shots.  Baby girl wasn't really feeling me snapping away, but she did give me one awesome shot, which is all I really hope for when I drag out my fancy camera along with my fancy faces & noises in attempt to keep her attention.

So excited to show off her new trick

For those of you who stalk this blog, you may now know this to be her flirty face.
She's knows how to work the eyes already ;)

Look at this smile!
Yep, Houston...we have a problem; saying no to this little one will be no easy task

I will leave you with the latest video of what we see on the daily around our house now.  Our baby boo sliding around the house desperately reaching & stretching for whatever has caught her eye at the moment.  In this case it'd be the remote.  You may have remembered the remote from the other video, turns out home girl is a remote hog.

This last video you should really enjoy, as I did for the first 5 seconds of hearing her do this.  I have now covered the "new toy".  Thank goodness object permanence doesn't kick in until closer to 9 months, for now it is out of sight out of mind-& out of my ears!

In other news I am still attempting to make her baby food & she is still turning it down for the premade, ridiculously over priced stuff.  Never fear, me & my cheap side will not give in & she will get used to it...one day :)
Home made peas- yum, yum

More prepackaged butternut squash!
Dear Alyssa Kate, this last month has brought even more firsts & the next few months show no signs of stopping.  You are scooting all over the place these days, getting faster & more curious by the day!  You were scooting backwards for quite awhile because you're nobody's chump, and you realized it was easier & faster in your soft footed pjs.  Occasionally you use your legs but most of the time you just drag one or both behind you doing what I like to call, "the wounded soldier".  You are a sitting up pro, I will sit you down and you will pull yourself forward to reach a toy & then push yourself back up to sit like it's old news.  You just pulled up for the first time yesterday!  You have been threatening it for awhile but you finally put those hefty thighs to good use.  You are still not doing much real talking, or even babbling, your main form of communication is squealing either breathy at me with a cute smile or at the top of your lungs with the biggest gummy grin.  You are doing better at eating "solids", but none of the ones that I slave over & make myself.  We just found out the you l.o.v.e. butternut squash, you woulda thought?  I think that you would just keep eating it if I kept giving you spoonful after spoonful.  You are still sleeping through the night like a rock star.  We put you down & you roll over and play with your glow worm until your sound asleep.  You're also still proving to be a morning person.  It is the best days when I get to be the one to wake you up.  You are so happy to see me it just melts my heart every single time.  You have become a little parrot; you will mimic the things we do regularly.  You have started to wave if we say "hi" or "bye bye" & it is absolutely the cutest.  You even just start waving at the dogs if we walk you into the room and you haven't seen them for a bit.  You clap too, and give us the sweetest, "am I doing this right?" face.  If we ask you to clap after you've waved or vice versa you seem to have a bit of trouble switching to the other.  To that you give us this face that says, "I'm not already doing that?".  You're still our tiny dancer & singing to you is the best way to get you out of a funk if you get yourself into one.  Your dad & I still aren't quite sure how we got such a sweet, fun, easy going baby...and we're both a bit concerned we'll be paying for it big time when you're older, but for now we're just enjoying every second of every day we get with you baby boo!

My Little Cheater

This is the best video I could get of her, she crawled a little for Aunt Shannon but we were only able to get this recorded, of course.  She's careful who she shows he moves to.

A Night To Remember

Yesterday started out like any other work day.  My alarm went off at 430am, I dragged myself out of bed to my Lazy Boy pump station & started my day.  My day at work was all that you could ask for; a chill assignment & good company, two things that have been hard to come by lately!  I still some how managed to get myself a patient right at the end of my shift which put me leaving work at 745pm heading out into the monsoon light showers.  Houston drivers act like the sky is falling around them whenever there is even a hint of water so needless to say 1 hour & 15 minutes later I was home and in the door of my clean house and staring at the face of my squealing happy baby boo.  After a very quick shower & quick dinner I was laid out on the floor with my baby girl and her toys while Chase was kicked back in his recliner & a dvr'd show was playing-As God intended ;)

Now Miss Alyssa has been threatening to crawl any day now and Chase & I take turns coaxing her on.  Tonight I was up and since she had her eye on my phone I decided to play the game that she oh so loves, "move that toy just as you get it within your grasp".  So she got into position and was stretching a wiggling toward that unobtainable cellular device & when that just wouldn't do it baby girl propped herself up onto her knees & using her elbows instead of her hands she crawled right on over to it.  I began speaking at the most ridiculous high pitched decibel yelling at Chase, "do you see her, DO YOU SEE HER?!", looking back from Chase's face to my crawling baby feverishly like I'm watching Wimbledon tears welled up in my eyes.  I sniffled at Chase, "I think I'm going to cry...", to which he laughed & said, "I think you already are" and he snapped this priceless photo.

Alyssa is truly a Culpepper & her daddy's child because she looked up after crawling & held her hand out as if to say "high five for my wicked new moves mom!".

So October 16th, 2012 will go down in the books as the day baby & mommy switched places.  She crawled like a big girl and reached back for a high five for her skills & I cried like a baby not believing how fast time flies.

Beach Bunny

Last Sunday we headed down to Galveston in this beautiful fall weather with my sister & her husband in tow to check out the progress of my parents' Galveston retirement home.  It was great weather for a fun drive, windy walk on the Sea Wall, & walking around the airy construction site that is their home right now.

Tiny Dancer

Sorry if this video is choppy.  But just had to share with yall the tiny dancer we've got living under our roof.  Any time we sing she does this & especially to her song of choice.

Enjoy the musical treat that is my voice & the moves Jagger wishes he had.
